NORTH CAROLINA
MUSEUM OF ART
Christa is thrilled to return to the North Carolina Museum of Art with Times of Refreshing, a dynamic dance she choreographed for the Panoramic Dance Project. Inspired by Scripture and Ayub Ogada’s Kenyan folk song “Kothbiro,” the work blends diverse movement vocabularies with live African drumming to explore themes of identity, culture, and spiritual renewal. Through this performance, Christa invites audiences into a rich dialogue between sound and motion that reflects heritage, faith, and the transformative power of embodied expression.

The Collegium for African Diaspora Dance (CADD)
DUKE UNIVERSITY
Christa’s work will be part of this year’s Collegium for African Diaspora Dance (CADD) Conference at Duke University!
Black Being, Oh My Brother: Collaborative Phoenixing through Poetry, Dance, and Film, the panel she’s part of, explores how interdisciplinary collaboration across poetry, dance, film, and music becomes an act of Black phoenixing — a continual rebirth of storytelling through artistic innovation.
Through this collaboration, the team reimagines the poetry of North Carolina Poet Laureate Jackie Shelton Green through movement and sound, inviting audiences to experience Black stories in deeply embodied and expansive ways.

About Still. Moving
This performance dance series explores the timeless works of the People’s Collection and loaned works through the lens of movement. Each object becomes a partner in a visual and physical dialogue as dancers interpret form, story, and silence with their bodies. Still. Moving reimagines the gallery as a stage where past and present meet and where the boundaries between objects and experience dissolve.
